Delta Sleep–Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide identified in the 1970s and associated with the regulation of delta wave activity — the slow, high-amplitude brain waves that characterize stages 3–4 non-REM sleep (deep restorative sleep).
DSIP has been detected in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues and appears to play a role in sleep modulation and neuroendocrine balance.
Mechanisms of Action:
- May help the brain shift into deeper, slow-wave sleep
- May calm stress signaling at the hypothalamic level
- May help lower nighttime cortisol output
- May support GABA activity (the nervous system’s “brake pedal”)
- May assist in stabilizing circadian rhythm patterns
- May promote a more recovery-focused hormonal environment overnight
